CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- A US Airways commuter flight from Charlotte to Wilmington was delayed after passengers said they smelled smoke in the plane before takeoff.

US Airways spokeswoman Michelle Mohr says the 25 passengers were transferred to another plane. She says there was not an emergency situation, and that the airline is checking the original plane, which is operated by US Airways-owned subsidiary PSA Airlines.

But one passenger told WWAY in Wilmington that he started smelling smoke while they were getting the on-board safety briefing. The passenger said that smoke then filled the plane.
