UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- The Union County School Board has decided to take its fight with the county to the court.
The school board says it needs more money. It filed suit Thursday afternoon saying the district overall isn’t getting enough funds.
Union County schools want $13 million more than it received last year, but the county only approved a $5 million increase.
The county tells NBC Charlotte, “We find it unfortunate that Union County Public Schools has moved forward with suing the taxpayers of Union County.”
A mediator tried to work out a solution, but talks failed.
