CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Firefighters spent the better part of an hour extinguishing flames at a Charlotte home.
It broke out late Saturday morning in the 200 block of Lander Street.
Neighbors tell NBC Charlotte they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.
A disabled woman living next door was alerted to the fire by another neighbor. There was some concern the flames could spread to her house, but she and her home escaped any danger.
“I was really not paying attention. I really wasn’t paying attention until I heard a knock on the door and him yelling, ‘Get out. There’s a fire,” Lois said.
No one was inside the damaged house at the time of the fire. Neighbors say it is vacant. No word yet on the cause.
