CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Roger Dale Honeycutt gets around in a wheelchair these days. He's 62-years-old and appears somewhat frail. But Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say that in 1981, he brutally raped two women two weeks apart.

Honeycutt is on trial in a Mecklenburg County Courtroom.

Thursday afternoon the second of the two women testified. She was 26 when she was attacked. Today she is 58-years-old, and told the jury that she fell asleep on the sofa and how she woke up.

"I became aware of somebody kneeling on the floor at my couch," said the woman.

She said she was still half asleep and thought it was her roommate’s boyfriend until he hugged her.

"The hug, it frightened me, I became aware this was not Scott," she told jurors. The victim never pointed to Honeycutt, or identified him in court. Police say DNA evidence linked him to the cases.

The woman told jurors, "I was told if I did not scream I would not get hurt; at some point it occurred to me that I couldn't believe that, that this might be the end."

At one point the woman reached for a tissue, but she remained composed while she was on the stand.

The other victim testified on Tuesday, she was five-months pregnant when she was raped.
