CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A cold start to today will give way to sun and warmer temperatures this afternoon.
Thursday morning started out in the uppers 20s, but temperatures will climb quickly throughout today giving way to sun and some wind.
The wind is down from yesterday but some areas will still experience wind gusts that will make temperatures feel colder then it really is.
Today's high will be in the upper 50s with few clouds and a lot of sun.
"It won't be a bad afternoon," Larry Sprinkle said. "It will be sunny and 56 for the high today in Charlotte."
The mountain region is still experiencing cold temps and winter conditions from yesterday's storm. Schools in Ashe, Avery and Watauga county are closed due to icy roads and snow.
Friday will be sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50s. By this weekend, look for temperatures in the low to mid-60s.
"This weekend it will be sunny and 60 for Saturday, "Sprinkle said. "For Sunday it will be sunny and 65, so it will be a beautiful weekend."
Monday will be cloudy with highs in the low 60s and a thirty percent chance of rain. Tuesday, there's a chance of showers in the morning with some clearing by the afternoon.
