WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. -- Classes are beginning Watauga County schools after they were evacuated because of a bomb threat Tuesday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m., police were able to clear all schools after searches were completed during the threat.

Boone police said a person called the Watauga County dispatch center around 7:30 a.m. about an 'unspecified bomb threat' for a school in the district but did not indicate which school.

As a precautionary, all students and faculty from each school were evacuated while police searched the schools.

Officers are in all nine schools and officials moved students to safe locations on or near school campuses.

There are about 4,500 students in the school district.
