CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) of the Carolinas held its annual convention Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Journalists from North and South Carolina gathered to listen to guest speaker Kerry Sanders.  The NBC News correspondent spoke to the group about his career and gave helpful advice to college students in the audience.

“I would encourage you to not worry about stumbling. Don’t' worry about making a mistake. Just stay within the ethics. Don't worry about pushing that line a little bit because you're in the early stage of your career and learning what works,” said Sanders.

There were 67 different categories for awards.
After Kerry’s remarks the association handed out its annual awards and NBC Charlotte was honored to receive first place awards for newscast, spot news coverage, and news documentary.
