CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A wreck involving a Department of Transportation vehicle halted the Interstate 485 outerloop in northwest Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.
Two of three lanes were closed at mile marker 14 (Mount Holly Road) due to the wreck, which took place around 2:45 p.m.
The DOT truck sideswiped with a pickup truck, forcing the DOT truck to swerve left into the median, hit a guard rail and overturn.
The DOT truck driver, 56-year-old Larry Surratt of Shelby, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver was not hurt.
All three lanes reopened around 4:45 p.m. after crews cleaned up fuel that spilled onto the highway.
