MCADENVILLE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man was killed in an accident on Interstate 85 that caused major delays Friday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. on I-85 south near McAdenville at exit 23.
Officials say a Ford truck driven by 71-year-old Carl Lee Clegg, of Charlotte, struck a yellow work truck from behind causing the Ford truck to leave the roadway, strike a guardrail, travel across the interstate and rollover into a concrete median before coming to a rest.
Two people were taken to the hospital after the accident happened, according to emergency officials.
Authorities said Clegg eventually died at the hospital from injuries he sustained during the accident.
The other injured party is said to have non-life threatening injuries.
Speed was a factor in the crash, officials say, and the results of a toxicology test are pending.
