CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Several people were pulled from a sandbar on Lake Wylie after a storm blew through the area on Fourth of July afternoon.
Crews responded to the scene near Girl Scout Road around 4:30 p.m. First responders pulled more 16 people from the sandbar to the South Carolina side of the lake near Buster Boyd Bridge.
Several emergency teams responded. They say the people were stranded on the sand when the storm came.
All missing people are accounted for. One was taken to Piedmont Medical, but the injuries are not expected to be serious.
