Body found inside burned Shelby home had gunshot wound

SHELBY, N.C. – Cleveland County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday that a body found inside a burnt home in Shelby Monday morning had gunshot wounds.

According to the Cleveland County Volunteer Fire Department, a call came in just after 8:30 a.m. for a fire in the 400 block of Christopher Road in Shelby.

Officials found a body inside the home but have not identified the victim. A family member told NBC Charlotte that the victim’s name is Danny. The family member also said that there were multiple bullet holes in the home that weren’t there before.

The State Bureau of Investigation is aiding officials in Shelby during this ongoing investigation.
