Boy turns winter weather into charitable profit

Some of the kids went out to make the most of the weekend snow -- sculpting tiny snowmen out of what they could.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- In the counties north of Charlotte -- Lincoln, Gaston and Catawba Counties -- snow fell for hours but it still wasn't cold enough to stick very much and after just a few hours, it was almost gone.

Gaston County boy Peter Burton took advantage of the cold weather to sell hot cocoa. Yesterday, Burton sold lemonade.

"Yesterday it was warmer," Peter said. "But today it's super cold."

He did it for a good cause. His mom volunteers at an animal shelter.

"They have this list of dogs that have been there for a long time and if they stay there any longer, they will die," Peter explained.

And being a dog lover, he said he can't let that happen.

"I don't want them to die," Peter said. "So I'm raising money for the animal shelter."
