Remains of two people found inside burnt vehicle in Morganton

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- Investigators have discovered what appeared to be the remains of two people inside a burnt vehicle in Morganton, according to officials.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Morganton Sunday evening where they discovered human remains inside a burnt vehicle. 

The case has now been classified as a homicide and the investigation is continuing.

One of the human remains has been identified as Albert Alexander Austin.

There is now a Burke County Crime Stoppers Reward in the amount of $1,000.00. 

Officials say they have learned the vehicle was a Cadillac Deville belonging to Albert Alexander Austin. However, it was registered to Spencer "Jermain" Murray.

Investigators are trying to locate the whereabouts of Murray or Austin. Anyone with information is asked to contact Burke County Crimestoppers at 828-437-3333 or the Burke County Criminal Investigations Division at 828-438-5500.
