Catawba Valley Community College lockdown lifted

A lockdown at Catawba Valley Community College was lifted after a threat of a weapon on campus Friday.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- The Catawba Valley Community College lockdown has been lifted.

The school went on lockdown Friday afternoon. A post on their Facebook page alerted followers that the campus was on a lockdown due to information indicating "a possible person with a weapon on or near campus."

No injuries or threats have been identified.

Yvonne Coulbourn's daughter was waiting for her daughter who goes to Challenger Early College High School on CVCC's campus.

"That was probably one of the worst feelings I had as a mom," Coulbourn said. "I'm still shaking. I haven't stopped shaking since I got here."

Challenger parents were reunited with their children at the nearby fairgrounds.

A tweet from a student shows footage of the school during lockdown.
