2-alarm fire causes $100K in damage, officials say

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A 2-alarm fire at a north Charlotte flooring company caused $100,000 in damage, officials said Wednesday. 

Charlotte Fire crews responded to a reported fire at the Birmingham Wood Flooring Company in the 7900 block of Statesville Road Tuesday evening. Charlotte Fire tweeted that the fire started in a trash can before spreading to other parts of the building. 

CFD says 40 firemen fought the blaze for about 20 minutes before bringing it under control.

MEDIC has two ambulances on scene to provide support for the fire crews, but no one has received treatment on scene.

The investigation into the cause is underway.
