Charlotte holds 'Walk for Wishes'

Hundreds of people braved chilly temperatures this morning in uptown Charlotte to help make sick children's wishes come true.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Hundreds of people braved chilly temperatures this morning in uptown Charlotte to help make sick children's wishes come true.

The annual "Walk for Wishes" brings children receiving those wishes together with their supporters to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation.

They walked a two mile loop from Romare Bearden Park around Bank of America Stadium.

"It's more about the celebration of being together. They've been working so hard to fund raise. It's a way for everyone to come together and celebrate all that they've done," organizer Laura Blaha said.

The area foundation has a budget of $3 million and grants about 250 wishes each year.

The most popular request is a trip to Disney but one lucky teen got his car "tricked out" thanks to local Hyundai dealerships.
