CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) - Dozens of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers gathered to mark the 10 years since the deaths of two of their brothers in blue.
Officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark were shot and killed after responding to a disturbance call on March 31, 2007.
With their surviving families present, the department's Honor Guard lowered the flags of the two officers' former precinct to half-mast.
Chief Kerr Putney said while much has changed at the department in 10 years, he said his officers' motivation has always been the same.
"We take an oath to do things that other people have a luxury of not having to do," Chief Putney said. "When the 911 call comes, we go."
