DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- American Airlines Flight 730 is circling over Davidson County after the flight out of Charlotte Douglass International bound for London was rerouted to the airport.
American Airlines said the flight left Charlotte after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night. However, the plane, encountered mechanical issues as it reached southern Virginia. The plane has been circling Davidson County for about two hours to burn off fuel due to weight which is standard.
American Airlines said the crew thought it would be best to turn around as a precaution instead of flying overseas, overnight.
The flight has 258 passengers and 16 crew members on board. Passengers will board another plane once it lands before taking off again for London.
