Gastonia supporters celebrate Trump victory

Supporters of Republican President-Elect Donald Trump celebrated his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 race.

GASTONIA, N.C. -- Voters throughout the country are celebrating the election of Donald Trump for what they expect will be a change to America's status quo.

Tony's Ice Cream owner Louis Coletta met Pence when he made an unannounced visit to his Gastonia ice cream shop.

"He talks like we do," Coletta said. "It's just like talking to your neighbor next door."

He's happy Trump and Pence won because he believes America is no longer the same.

"I want to see it back more like I used to see it," he said. "I'm ready for a change."

He's hoping for a change back to a "familiar" America by electing someone who's far from the status quo.

It's a similar sentiment shared by Frances Honeycutt.

"He wants America to get back what it used to," Honeycutt said. "We've gone a long way from where we used to."

Even young voters like Owen Williams, who were not around during what Trump supporters claim are the "good days," still long for them.

"[I expect] just all-around boost to the economy and make America great again," Williams said.
