Man arrested in shooting of Gaston Co officer's home

According to police, officers responded to an area outside of Cherryville in reference to multiple shots being fired into the residence of a Gaston County Police officer who was off-duty.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Gaston County Police has arrested a man in connection with an incident last week where shots were fired into the home of one of its officers.

Bradley Gene Mellon, 27, most recently of Lawndale, North Carolina was arrested Tuesday after a week of investigation into the shooting. He is accused of shooting into the home of a Gaston Co. police officer .

Mellon currently has warrants charging him with Possession of Firearm by a Felon, Discharge a Firearm into a Dwelling, and Attempted Murder.

According to police, officers responded to an area outside of Cherryville in reference to multiple shots being fired into the residence of a Gaston County Police officer who was off-duty. 

The residence was occupied by the officer's family at the time but there were no injuries, according to police.
