Local man arrested after throwing and igniting gas on victim, officials say

ALBEMARLE, N.C. -- The Albemarle Police Department  arrested a man Thursday morning after he allegedly inflicted second to third-degree burns on a female victim during a domestic argument.

David Michael Sutton, also known as Howard Franklin Sutton III, has been arrested after officers found Kimberly Ann Edwards with second and third-degree burns on her face and upper torso, according to officials.

The Albemarle Police Department believes that sometime during the domestic argument, gasoline was thrown on Edwards and ignited. Edwards was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and is in stable condition.

Sutton has been charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury and assault. He is currently being held at the Stanly County Jail with a $1,000,000.00 secured bond.

Members of the Albemarle Police Department are thanking the community for the help provided in locating Sutton.
