Mallard Creek HS placed on lockdown after reports of shots fired near school

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mallard Creek High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following reports of shots being fired near the area.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a shots fired call in the 3800 block of Johnston Oehler Road. CMPD officers located two subjects near the scene and detained both individuals.

A firearm was also found at the scene, CMPD said.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, according to CMPD.
