Man leads cops on chase after west Charlotte armed robbery, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a man they say led officers in a car chase after robbing a west Charlotte business.

Just before 10 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Cash America in the 2600 block of Freedom Drive. When officers arrived at the store, they were told an unidentified man robbed the business at gunpoint.

Police say the suspect then fled the scene in a white vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over, leading officers in a pursuit. Authorities said the suspect jumped from the vehicle and attempted to run from officers near Atando Avenue in northeast Charlotte.

Officers took the man into custody. He has not been identified by authorities.
