STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A Matthews man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years and one month in prison on child pornography charges.
In July 2014, police became aware that 47-year-old Dean Paul Stitz was using a peer-to-peer network to distribute child pornography on the internet.
According to court documents, law enforcement seized a search warrant for Stitz's home and took his laptop computer and external hard drive.
The devices revealed over 600 images and videos of child pornography, some of which depicted minors engaging in sadistic and masochistic conduct.
Stitz pleaded guilty in April 2016 to one count of distribution of child pornography.
As of Thursday, Stitz was in custody.
