Mint Hill residents win battle over paved neighborhood roads

Mint Hill residents win battle over paved roads.

MINT HILL, N.C. -- Garry Lockwood is front and center, walking down the middle of his street in his Mint Hill neighborhood.

"Finally, the roads are paved. It's been a nightmare, honestly," he said.

Yes, Lockwood is celebrating paved roads. The streets in Morgan Run have been an eyesore for years.

Neighbor Michele Casale talked to NBC Charlotte in 2012 about the problems: Exposed Manhole Covers.

"So I drive out every day and hit manhole covers," said Casale in July of 2012.

Casale and Lockwood live on the same street. They've battled the road issue in Morgan Run for years. The developer and the contractor disagreed on who should be responsible for ultimately fixing the roads.

The town of Mint Hill said its hands were tied. But now, after years of back and forth, the roads are fixed. Lockwood said it only took days.

"You want to come home to a nice road, where your home looks like a neighborhood. Now it finally looks like a neighborhood," said Lockwood.
