RALEIGH, N.C. -- A lucky winner of the Powerball beat the odds right here in North Carolina by matching their ticket with all white balls drawn.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, someone who played Powerball in a small coastal town won big in Saturday's drawings. Thanks to the addition of the $1 Power Play, what would have been a $1 million prize doubled to $2 million.
The winning ticket was sold in Brunswick County at the Minuteman Food Mart on Beach Drive in Calabash.
The ticket matched all five white balls drawn, beating the odds of 1 in 11.7 million.
The winning numbers were 17-19-21-37-44 for the white balls and 16 for the red Powerball.
A ticket in Tennessee matched all six numbers to win the $421 million jackpot.
The jackpot annuity for Wednesday's drawing is $40 million, worth $24.2 million cash.
