OUTER BANKS, N.C. -- A kitten thrown off a bridge in the Outer Banks has a second shot at life thanks to North Carolina Department of Transportation workers.

Three NCDOT underwater inspectors say someone tossed the kitten off a bridge in the Outer Banks on Wednesday.

They quickly rushed to his rescue pulling him from the water.  They took the kitten to the vet where he got a clean bill of health.

Reece Newman, one of the rescuers, adopted the kitten naming him Bridger Catfish Newman.

Even North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper tweeted the NCDOT thanking the workers for going above and beyond.
