1 injured in south Charlotte house fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- MEDIC says one person was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a house fire Monday afternoon in south Charlotte.

Around 1:30, the Charlotte Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 9100 block of Covey Hollow Court in the Cameron Wood neighborhood. 

CFD says one firefighter was transported to the hospital from the scene. MEDIC described the injury as potentially life-threatening. 

Crews battled the blaze for nearly half an hour before bringing it under control. 

A second firefighter was injured during clean-up, authorities say; he was evaluated at urgent care and returned to work. 

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
