Few problems at Uptown New Year's celebration

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Overall it was a pretty quiet night for police as First Night Charlotte returned to the Queen City to ring in the new year. Police arrested a few drunk drivers and there were a few minor arrests. Everyone involved with First Night say it was a big success
As the crown rose above the crowd bringing in the new year, people who came out for the celebrations say it was well worth it.
There was food and fun for the entire family. Then as it got closer to the new year folks filled bars and restaurants to welcome 2009.
Police say 18 juveniles broke curfews and officers arrested 28 adults on a number of offenses such as public intoxication and open containers.
People who came out, many from out of town, say they felt safe and the event it was well worth their trip to Charlotte.
