CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An early-morning fire destroyed a home on Eastway Drive near Kilborne.

Police say the home was vacant and no one was injured.

A passing motorist called 911 at about 4:30 a.m. Friday to report the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police are looking into the possibility of homeless or vagrant activity playing a role.
