Police still looking for suspect in stabbing
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Brent Weaver was 44 years old when he was murdered.
A neighbor found his body on the sidewalk in front of his apartment located at 188 Tyvola Drive.
"Whatever events transpired started in the living room. Of course, he exited out his front door, came out the front door and this is where he expired," said investigator Dave Abbott, who has been working on the case since Weaver's death in September 2008.
Weaver was disabled and had lived in the same apartment for many years.
"That's one of the hardest things in a case like this is a lack of witnesses to try and piece everything together," Abbott said.
There was no sign of forced entry. It was common on warm nights for residents in these units to leave their back doors open.

"When the victim ran out the front door, the suspect ran out the back," Abbott said. "It's dark in this area, which eases their escape."
Police say Weaver was stabbed to death.
They say he had a good heart and would often allow friends to stay over until they could get back on their feet. The motive in this case remains unclear.
"I don't have a good answer for that. There could have been a robbery motive -- they were looking for money. There are a lot of things it could have been," Abbott said.
Police are in need of information and they're asking people to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
Weaver's murder is one of 25 unsolved homicides in 2008.
