This tree crashed into the roof of a house on Ideal Way in the Dilworth area on Sunday.
CHARLOTTE, N.C .-- It was an incredible sight in the Dilworth area as a tree crashed into a home Sunday evening.
Fortunately no one was inside the house when straight line winds forced a piece of this oak tree to crush part of the home.
“It sounded like a transformer bomb went off it was boom. It was so bad I jumped out of my living room couch and ran out back,” says Johnnie Brower, who lives across the street from the Ideal Way house. He still can’t believe what happened to his neighbor’s home.
“We had to have had 50-60mph gusts of winds. With the rain we got lately and these are old trees you're bound to have limb problems," he said.
Firefighter rushed on scene to make sure no one was inside the home and that there was no fire danger to the neighborhood. The couple who lives in the home are out of town. Neighbors say part of the same tree fell on the home a couple of years ago, but the damage wasn’t nearly as bad as this.
