The ramp from I-85 to the I-485 inner loop in University City was shut down after a pedestrian was struck Thursday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on an interstate ramp in north Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.

Police say it happened on the ramp from Interstate 85 north onto the I-485 inner loop. The person was flown to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and I-85 had to be closed briefly while the helicopter landed.

The I-485 ramp remained closed just after 1 p.m., according to Medic.
