Niece finds uncle dead

LANCASTER, S.C. -- Investigators are looking for answers after a man is found dead inside his home, just steps away from the Lancaster Police Department.

A niece found 32-year-old Harry Frazier, Jr., dead in the kitchen of his home on East Arch Street.

"It does not appear to be a robbery," said Capt. Helen Howard of Lancaster police. "Nothing was disturbed."

Frazier was shot once in the back and once in the hip.

"He loved his kids, he loved his wife,” said sister Penny Harris. "We just want to find out who did this, why someone would shoot him in the back, why somebody would be so cold-hearted. That's my baby brother."

Frazier was the father of two young boys.

Frazier's family released a state on Friday, saying, “Harry Frazier was a loving husband and father. He was a hard worker and loved life. We hope justice will be served in this brutal crime. If anyone knows anything, please contact police. Harry will be missed by anyone and everyone who loved him.”

According to police, Frazier and his wife had been separated for about three weeks. Erica Duncan Frazier told officers that the last time she saw Harry Frazier was a few days ago. She said she had not lived in the house with Frazier since their separation.

Lancaster police said the case is close to their hearts because Frazier lived right across the street from the police department.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, also known as SLED, has been called in to help investigate the case.

Family members say Frazier was kind to a fault and the large crowd at his house after the murder is a testament to how well he was liked. His sister thinks someone took advantage of that kindness.

"That's exactly what it is,” Harris said.

Frazier was a barber by trade. He also worked with lawn irrigation systems in Ballantyne.

His niece found him at about 1 p.m. Thursday when she went to his house to get a haircut.

This is the Lancaster’s second murder this year.
