Man shot in home described as 'loving father' 5:37 PM
05:37 PM EDT on Friday, May 16, 2008
LANCASTER, S.C. -- One day after Harry Frazier, Jr,. of Lancaster was found murdered in his home across from the police station, there are still no suspects in his death.
His family gave us a written statement saying, "Harry Frazier was a loving husband and father. He was a hard worker and loved life. We hope justice will be served in this brutal crime. If anyone knows anything please call police. Harry will be missed by anyone and everyone who loved him."
Frazier's neighbor Alex describes the friend he'll miss so much, as "happy, full of life, that's Harry. If you need anything, he'll gladly do it for you."
Just last weekend Frazier mowed his Alex's lawn, "to test out his new lawn mower," he explains. Alex and Frazier have been neighbors for two years. Both having kids, they felt safe with police across the street.
Neighbors call the crime brazen because Frazier lives right in front of the Lancaster police station.
Family members say Frazier's niece stopped by Thursday, found it strange the door was open and then found Frazier shot to death on the kitchen floor. Police found four shell casings near the body.
"Harry doesn't let people in the house he doesn't know and so for this to have happened and no forced entry, he knew the individual," said Alex.
Frazier's wife Erica tells police the two separated three weeks ago, saying he was physically abusive to her. But she also says her husband was a loving father -- to 13-year-old J'Quayl and 2-year-old Jacob.
Alex describes him as a dad saying he was "a loving father."
"His son and my daughter played together all the time," he said. "We came together, ate dinner, had fun as friends and family."
Police have no suspects or motive yet and the police report does not indicate anything was stolen. If anyone has information you can call police or SLED -- the South Carolina Law Enforcment Division is also working the case.
