The Charlotte Observer

A 13-year-old Iredell County youth was charged Monday with seven felonies and four misdemeanors in connection with the sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

The teen -- who is a family member of the victim -- was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual offense, one count of attempted first-degree sexual offense and three counts of crime against nature, all felonies. The teen also was charged with four counts of indecent liberties between children.

The release said the offenses happened between November and April. An investigator interviewed the victim at the Dove House Children's Advocacy Center in Statesville.

The release offered no other details and doesn't say whether the teen was male or female. Officials at the Sheriff's Office could not be reached Monday.
