| Recommended Suspect crashes car in Pineville after chase 8:50 AM

PINEVILLE, N.C. -- A chase suspect is fighting for his life after crashing on Downs Circle just off Main Street in Pineville.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the incident began when police tried to pull over a car on Interstate 77 near Nations Ford Road. The driver appeared to be pulling over, but then took off.
The Highway Patrol said the chase reached speeds up to 110 mph on I-77.
The driver exited the interstate in Pineville, lost control, flipped seven times and was thrown from the car.
He was taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately released.
No one else was injured.
