911 call from Sun-drop shooting released

CONCORD, N.C. -- WCNC obtained the frantic call for help made from the Sun-Drop Bottling Company where two people were shot and killed Friday.

911 Operator: "Do you think they've been shot or what?"

Caller: "Don't know."

911 Operator: "Okay, but they're both bleeding?"

Caller: "Yeah, they're bleeding like crazy."

A plant employee made the 911 call after finding the bodies of Donna Barnhardt, 59, and Darrell Noles, 44.

Barnhardt worked at the plant for 18 years. Her daughter told WCNC that Barnhardt wouldn’t want people to cry but to be happy.

Noles was at the plant Friday to fill out a job application.

Both were shot and killed during the robbery.

"(I have) a concern that there's a killer out there," said Noles’ neighbor Nancy McClure. "I just want them to catch him and give him what he deserves."

According to police, the gunman may have taken off with a box. He took an undisclosed amount of money.

By Monday afternoon, investigators were back out searching a forested area near the bottling company.

The gunman description is vague -- a man with shoulder length dreadlocks.

Investigators Monday didn't find a box or the suspect. They're retracing steps but are no closer to the killer.

"A violent crime is harder on a family," said McClure. "I had a brother that was shot and killed."

Noles’ funeral arrangements are scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Bright Light Baptist Church in Concord.

Bernhardt’s funeral will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wilmar Park Baptist Church in Concord.
