CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte had a new record low temperature this morning. The mercury dropped to 56; that broke the old record of 58, set in 1885.

This afternoon, look for sunny skies and a high around 88. Thursday we'll see highs in the low 90s and in the low 90s again on Friday.

Clouds will thicken Friday night with a stray thunderstorm possible. Saturday through Monday will turn out mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Highs all three days will be in the upper 80s.
