CMS to cut 26 assistant principal positions 8:01 AM
08:01 AM EDT on Friday, July 4, 2008
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A shrinking budget leads to a shrinking staff for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
The district has announced plans to eliminate 26 positions.
CMS Superintendent Peter Gorman promised cuts would be necessary after the county's final budget vote. The school district is getting $18 million less than it requested.
The plan to reduce costs will cut 26 assistant principal positions. The district says those employees will be asked to fill other vacancies throughout the district.
All of the assistants principals affected by these cuts have been notified.
District officials say more cuts are planned.
