Man charged in Carowinds exposure case 5:02 PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carowinds is the place where many parents count on spending a safe and fun filled day with their kids. That's why many moms and dads are relieved police made an arrest in the indecent exposure case at Carowinds.
But others are just now finding out the suspect lives in their same Rock Hill apartment building. "Now I'm creeped out," said a mother who did not want to be identified, after finding out her neighbor was arrested for indecent exposure. "There are a lot of kids here, a lot of kids swimming, a lot of kids riding bikes. I take my daughter to do sidewalk chalk outside."
Dennis Dart, 39, is charged with indecent exposure and public masturbation, after witnesses told police they saw a man touching himself at the Carowinds wave pool last week and trying to hide what he was doing by holding his infant daughter on his lap.
The case was referred to the Department of Social Services.
"We have season passes," said Adrinna Thomas, mother of two young boys. Thomas also lives in the same apartment building as Dart.
"Hearing that type of thing exists is heartbreaking, knowing that it's in your neighborhood is terrifying, knowing that person lives right behind you, I mean I'm speechless," Thomas said.
Both moms are alarmed to hear that Dart bonded out of jail.
"There won't be anymore sidewalk chalk until I know he is out of this complex or in jail," said the mother of a 2-year-old girl.
One parent at the wave pool that day punched Dart in the face, but that man was not charged. Dart was taken to the hospital and that's why he has a black eye in his mugshot picture.
