Man attacked in home invasion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Neighbors in east Charlotte’s Hampshire Hills subdivision are worried after one of their own is attacked at home by four armed strangers.

"I’m just afraid right now because I have a family here too," said neighbor Methus Dixon.

Police are withholding the victim’s name. The 37-year-old lives on Caudell Place.

Around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, the homeowner reported to police that four men entered his home and hit him with a handgun in the head.

"This is just shocking, maybe a new beginning," Dixon said about what he considers a quite neighborhood.

“The victim stated that the suspects took his money from his pockets,” reads the police report.  “(They) dragged him against his will to his bedroom.”

The robbers took $600 cash, a laptop, cell phone and keys to a Mercedes Benz, BMW and Saturn. However, the cars were left in the driveway.

Crime Tracker 36 showed that over the past year, there have been four residential burglaries, two armed robberies and two reports of aggravated assault within a quarter-mile radius of Tuesday’s home invasion.
