Hannah Montana concert tickets sell out fast 3:46 PM
03:46 PM EDT on Monday, September 17, 2007
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Just because a show is sold out, it doesn't mean you can't go. The Internet is full of people willing to sell their seats for a price.
And some parents are learning that the hard way, as they scramble to find tickets to the hottest show in town – Hannah Montana.
The tickets for the Nov. 27 show here in Charlotte went on sale this Saturday at the Bobcats Arena box office, and sold out in just eight minutes. And parents are finding that the tickets have been gobbled up and are being resold online, some for as much as 100 times the face value.
So, we asked the ticket manager at Bobcats Arena if brokers have an unfair advantage.
"The brokers are in the same element that any purchaser is,” said Ticket Manager Gary Brosius. “They're trying to connect online, on the phone, and sometimes provide people that are here. Our sole effort is to accommodate as many people we can and we assume that everybody is a fan but there are brokers connected through the Internet not only from this region but from other places where they are trying to purchase tickets for the same show."
We checked online to see what's out there for other shows in Charlotte.
Tickets to Dave Matthews will run you anywhere from $41 to $135 on eBay.
Two tickets to Van Halen will set you back anywhere from about $50 to $500.
But Hannah Montana might take the cake. We found one person selling seats to her sold out show for $3,100.
As for those tickets -- buyer beware. The $3,100 seats didn't actually exist.
