CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There'll be a lot of attention this week on North Carolina's Outer Banks and in particular, the town of Rodanthe.

It's the setting for a new movie starring Richard Gere and Dianne Lane, which opens this Friday.

The movie "Nights in Rodanthe" is based on the best selling novel by Nicholas Sparks.

Lane plays a divorced mother from Rocky Mount and Gere plays a doctor from Raleigh. The two meet at an inn in Rodanthe and romance ensues.

Now, tourism officials are hoping the movie leads to more visitors on the Outer Banks.

They've even put together a special itinerary so you can see the sights featured in the film.
