Officers identified in deadly Salisbury shooting

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Salisbury police have released the names of the officers involved in a shooting that left a 20-year-old dead.
Alphonso Simmons was shot to death after he allegedly ran from officers Sunday morning. Officers said they believed Simmons was involved in an armed robbery at a gas station earlier in the weekend.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Salisbury police released the names of the officers involved.

They are: Officer T.J. Crews, a member of the force since 1999; Officer M.E. Morgan, who's worked for the department since 2007; and Rowan County Deputy Jay Davis, who has been a deputy for three years.
The State Bureau of Investigations is investigating the shooting.
