CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The state Department of Transportation says the final inspection for the new stretch of Interstate 485 is scheduled for Tuesday.
If everything checks out, the section between Oakdale Road and Statesville Road could open by the end of the week.
Last week Skanska contractors told NewsChannel 36 they had finished the job, but the DOT was worried about cracks in the road.
"We are having issues, actually, with some portions of the road where there has been some cracking in the concrete," said spokesperson Jen Thompson.
Skanska told NewsChannel 36 that the DOT had not advised the company of the cracks in concrete.
