CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Christian relief organization Samaritan's Purse plans to process some 1 million gift boxes in Charlotte that will be sent to children overseas as Christmas presents.

A warehouse in Charlotte will have some 400 volunteers an hour on Thursday preparing the shoe boxes for delivery. The Operation Christmas Child program is led by Franklin Graham, son of aging evangelist Billy Graham.

Samaritan's Purse is trying to distribute some 8 million boxes to children in 100 countries this year. The project has hand-delivered gifts to more than 61 million children worldwide since 1993.

Both kids and adults will participate in the event.
