CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The daughter of NASCAR racing mogul Bruton Smith has been charged with DWI in connection with a crash last week that left her seriously injured.

Anna Smith remains hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center.

On Tuesday, Huntersville police charged her with DWI and driving with a revoked license.

The accident on Dec. 10 happened on Gilead Road near Beatties Ford Road around 5 a.m.  Authorities found Smith's wrecked vehicle off the road in a field. Smith was reportedly thrown about 40 feet from the car.

Bruton Smith is the billionaire chairman of Speedway Motorsports Inc.
