A Charlotte man was busted for child porn and 6NEWS learned several agencies worked together to lock him up.

The suspect, John Worthey, 58, is accused of shipping and receiving child porn. He is locked up at the Mecklenburg County Jail and that's where he has been since Friday night, and with a $700,000 bond it doesn’t appear that he's going anywhere anytime soon.

Worthey was always considered a nice guy by his neighbors.

"He was a very nice guy. He and I would talk from time to time and there was no indication over there," said neighbor Thomas Rhyant.

Friday night Worthey was arrested in Matthews. Agents with the Postal Inspectors Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force said Worthey corresponded with someone in the state of Ohio not knowing that someone was an undercover agent.

Rhyant recalls seeing him (Worthey) in his yard Friday morning.

"We've always talked. We talked just the other day and he told me he may be moving to Philadelphia and so I think he's a guy that has a real problem," Rhyant said.

Investigators said Worthey is a divisional parts and sales manager for Hyundai.  He does not volunteer or work around children.

"I really feel sorry for him. He's got four kids, some young boys and his wife. I hurt for them more. Every kid needs their daddy, a straight, sane and sober daddy," Rhyant said.

Worthey is only facing state charges, but the feds are actively pursuing the case, which means he will soon have the federal government to worry about.
