House GOP's long awaited health care vote

It's been a bumpy ride but the House appears ready to vote Thursday on the Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

After weeks of negotiations, House GOP leaders sweetened the pot for moderates with an $8 billion amendment to help patients with pre-existing conditions pay for higher premiums and out-of-pocket costs. They now believe they have the votes to pass the bill, but the high-stakes showdown could be a down-to-the-wire squeaker.

With Democrats unified against the measure, GOP leaders can only lose about 22 Republicans and still pass the bill.

Strong storms expected this evening

Heavy rain will move into the Carolinas Thursday evening with the possibility of severe storms.

"It's more likely that we'll see these in the early evening through late tonight into early Friday morning," said Larry Sprinkle of the First Warn Storm Team.

Flooding is possible with this system as one to three inches of rain is expected.

"If you have plans tonight, I would take care of them during the daytime hours because tonight will pretty much be a washout," Sprinkle said.
